The Second Parousia of Jesus

"If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.  John 14:3
At Pentecost Jesus sent His Holy Ghost to His disciples in order to show them that He was still with them wherever they gathered around His Word and Sacraments.  So today, whenever we partake of the same,  we are reminded that Jesus is here in our midst.  Yet, there is another great day we are still reminded to look forward to.  A day we are told to prepare for and be ready for.  That day is judgement day.  The second coming of Christ.

Paul says He will come as a thief in the night. 1 Thes. 5:2  Nobody knows the day or the hour, but He will return to raise the dead and take His beloved bride, the Church, to be with Him in paradise.  We can look forward to that day with great anticipation.  We can have peace in the fact that in our baptism our names have been written in the book of life.  We have been given a new life in Jesus and because of his life, death, and resurrection for us, we do not need fear His return, rather, we can be overjoyed about it.  We can look forward to it every day and we make our daily prayer, "Come soon, Lord Jesus."

We can indeed have Jesus with us each and every day through word and sacrament,  and one day He will come to take us to where we may be where He is all of the time.

Have peace and joy as you prepare for and wait for our Lord's return.
